CALUMO – Personalising Reports with Name and Date Video
The video below shows how reports can be personalised and introduces several key formulas.
Within CALUMO, it can be really useful to personalise some reports for users and/or even change what is displayed or allowed based on the user using the report. The above video introduces the always helpful CINFO formula, which, among other things can return the current username. This can, in turn, be used to look up different values (such as name) or to check if the current user is a member of a particular group (such as a writeback-allowed group or an admin group). Looking up a value can be achieved in several ways but a popular and flexible approach is using the formula CGETSQL. As the name suggests, this allows us to get a value directly from SQL via a CALUMO editable table (bypassing the cubes). In addition, we can leverage Excel formulas to grab the current date and ensure this displays with the correct timezone by using (once again) CINFO to get the correct timezone offset.
CGETSQL can be used to both read and update and can be very useful in certain situations to display and also allow editing of key pieces of information. For example, Brydnes BI extensively uses CGETSQL in employee forecasting when users want to update an employee’s FTE value or Salary. You can learn more about CGETSQL and CINFO in the CALUMO help documentation. CGETSQL and CINFO
