CALUMO Making Reports Dynamic with CMemberOffset Video

The video below shows how the CMEMBEROFFSET formula can help make reports dynamic. It is easy and gives users a lot of flexibility.

With many reports that show months in columns, you may want the months to be dynamically changed based on a user selection. For instance, in the above video, Jul 2023 is selected, and the six months to July 2023 are displayed. If the selection is changed to Aug 2023, we want the six months to Aug 2023 displayed. CALUMO makes this easy. The above video shows how the CMEMBEROFFSET formula can achieve this.

In addition to CMEMBEROFFSET, you can also use Excel formulas to make reports more dynamic. For example, if you have a month (Jan 2024) referenced by [Date].[Period].&[202401], you could use Excel to determine the next month and generate [Date].[Period].&[202402] with a formula in the next column. If you then use a slicer to change the first month to June 2024, referenced by [Date].[Period].&[202406], then your next column will automatically update. This can get tricky as you transition over year ends, but it is a common and simple approach.
